I can confirm that my previous fears of flash reducing the speed of the test are unfounded.
I have since benchmarked on a friends cable over WiFi at 6.8Mbit, which is identical to what the PC gets on the same connection.
I wish I could test on faster cable, would be interesting to see at what point the N900 can’t keep up, the WiFi limit would be about 25Mbit so I wonder if the N900 could manage it?
I have the phone but i can not use 3G on it with ATT in Indiana state. I wish someone can help me if there is any update or app that would solve this nightmare. I been using 3G on my Sonyericsson XP1 but when i switched to the Nokia N900 i only get 2.5 which is sucks i guess and slower. if nothing would work soon i am considering switching to t-mobile in future.
i live in mass and get 3.5 g’s most places i go. so its always fast and i never felt the need for wifi except maybe for skype calls or for the heck of it. i love this meamo. sorry android even though i like you.
The reason it didn’t pick up NYC on the map automatically is because t-mobile provides ip addresses to mobile devices that arent specific. they all show up in the middle of the us. it doesn’t use gps to find his location. if you ever use a tmob device to connect and run this test you’ll see that it does the same thing (doing it right now on my laptop). it doesn’t locate using the gps radio or a wifi ip because it’s on tmobiles network.
i have a question, is Ny city not covered by hsdpa or is it that t-mobile just dont have it.
if i run a speed test in london on my n95 i get 6mbps / 2.4mbps

a dude i swear ur making the phone look bad lol
@Yunilove The N900 doesn’t support AT&T’s 3G frequencies. There’s nothing you can do to fix that except switch to T-Mobile.

Thats a cool phone i wish i had a major carriers cell service where i lived instead of being stuck to this crappy local cell company.

i have the phone but i can not connect to internet , i have an orage contract “internet connection faild , try again ? “
@ricky0321 yes it does,Sorry man
It may be because he is in a building, u get slower speed when u r inside the house, depends on how much walls and metal is in the way of the signal.

Fail at finding NYC on map
Yes, it only supports T-Mobile US 3G. The UK version supports UK 3G though.
yeah only 2G on AT&T.. maybe N900 will make support for AT&T users.. this really blows.
yes yes it does
I live in San Francisco and i am using AT&T.
For some reason, i only got 2G in my area.
Does the N900 only support the T-mobile 3G?
would have been interesting to see if you get the same speeds when you connect the n900 through your cabel internet via wlan.
@OnceUponATimeIn1979
so is your n900 working now yet? whats up with your tmobile and internet now update?

My town only has a 2G connection and the net works. You obviously need to wait longer for pages to download, but it does work.
if you’re connected into wifi signa !!
btw almost cities here in philippines are covered with 3G signal..
pinoy here.
