You’re right, of course, it does depend. I’d say there’s a very high chance that it will cost money in the long run.
Personal example: I recently changed from 35 e/month 3G-data plan to equally fast 14 e/month plan, after service provider made me an offer. If I had made contract, and unable to chance provider for two years, the slightly cheaper phone would’ve ended up costing me 21*24 = 504 euros!
@Lihahyytelo It entirely depends what the contract includes and what you will be using the phone for. I understand that there are some shocking deals out there, especially the 2 year contracts but they aren’t all bad, there are some very reasonable ones. But please do explain how taking out a 12 or 18 month contract for a fairly new phone actually costs you more money than actually buying it out right?
@Lihahyytelo just did a bit of research, to be honest the plan i got at the moment is fine n i just want a phone…..after researching you were right m8….i coulda easily got suckerd into a contract i dnt even want or need. Just buying the fone….5800 or x6……would save me a load of money if i look after it. So thank you mate, u stoppd me frm makin a mistake
@Lihahyytelo im due an upgrade tho lol what do you do then? pay as u go? I’ll deff do my research and if it works out cheaper to just buy the fone then i will cheers
Look around for best deal and by it with cash from a shop, without making a two year commitment to an service provider plan. All the operators want to do is suck the customer in and milk you for 2+ years.
If you can’t afford to buy the phone now, DON’T make a commitment to a plan. It will, guaranteed, cost you more in the long run.

You’re a sucker to go with those deals they offer you. If you can’t afford a phone and have to pay for it monthly.. please don’t.
