Maximum number of contacts – Nokia N97

I’ve got a large number of contacts(6000+) stored on my exchange account. When i try to sync my brand-new n97 with my contacts, either with mail for exchange or via pc sync, It seems to choke after syncing only 4000-4100 of them. Has anyone had experiance with syncing a large number of contacts with an n97?
