22/08/2009: Marathon 42km (Athletics – Berlin 2009)
Abel Kirui won the men’s marathon world title in a championship record two hours six minutes and 54 seconds to make it three global titles in a row for Kenya. Compatriot Emmanuel Mutai took silver in 2:07:48 with Tsegay Kebde claiming bronze for Ethiopia (2:08:35). Free-wheeling? (wt 15)
I read a couple of articles today about Kara Goucher, one from earlier in the year in the NY Times Well blog in which she gives advice and relates to us lay runner in an interview, and one in the Wall Street Journal about her training in preparation for the marathon at the IAAF World Championships in Berlin.
